NYK commences new St Petersburg Service

NYK has commenced its new dedicated fixed day weekly Baltic Express Service, (BAX) calling Hamburg, St Petersburg, Kotka and back to Hamburg. Amsterdam will be added to the schedule from March 2008. This feeder service is designed to connect with the Grand Alliance’s Asia – Europe services (EU 1, 2, 3 & 4).

 

The service will provide 950 TEU capacity using two vessels provided by X-Press Container line but underwritten by NYK.

Announcing the new service, Takaya Soga, Deputy Managing Director of NYK’s Liner Division in Europe said: “The launch of this new service further reinforces our strategy to offer a wider network of services to support our key customers. With our customers’ trade in Russia growing strongly, we have been keen to expand our Liner capabilities within this region and are now able to offer a dedicated, reliable service on a fixed day weekly schedule.”
